This is a traffic management game created in 3 hours for a game jam with the theme "Red Light, Green Light".

Gameplay Overview You are in control of the traffic lights at a four-way intersection. Cars will continuously spawn from the North, South, East, and West, driving in a straight line. Your objective is to manage the flow of traffic to prevent crashes and keep vehicles moving for as long as possible.

Mechanics and Rules

  • Traffic Lights: You can toggle the lights to allow either North/South traffic or East/West traffic to proceed. When one direction is green, the intersecting direction is automatically red.
  • Crashes: If you allow cars from intersecting lanes to enter the middle of the road at the same time, they will collide. Every collision deducts 1 life.
  • Patience Timer: You cannot leave a lane on a red light indefinitely. If a car is forced to wait at a red light for more than 10 seconds, you will incur a penalty and lose 1 life.
  • Difficulty Scaling: As the game progresses, the time between car spawns will decrease, and the maximum speed of the vehicles will increase.
  • Game Over: You start with 5 lives. The game ends when your life count reaches zero.

Controls

  • Use your mouse to click the on-screen buttons to toggle the traffic lights between green and red.

Scoring You receive 1 point for every vehicle that successfully passes through the intersection and exits the screen safely.

A nice game indeed. Its odd that i had made a very similar game with the same asset pack, but what feels insane to me is we both had errors when replaying XD. (obviously due to jam time limits)

I like your interpretation of this game. The fact that there are no turning cars makes it really meditative.

After replaying, it starts again for me, but no cars appear. Sometimes I'm also unclear why it's game over. For example, in the screenshot I still had 4 lives, there was no accident, and the cars hadn't been waiting long.

But overall, "I like it" :-)

This was really fun! I'd love to see you expand on it and add turning cars, just to really capture the absolute nightmare that is traffic at my local intersection 😎
